Logan update

So last Friday we met with the Orthopedic doctor. It turned out to be a good visit and he had much better news for us then we originally thought with the walk-in visit earlier that week.
The new doctor left that Logan would be fine with a short leg hard splint instead of a long leg cast...good news indeed!
So Logan has a hard splint that runs down both sides of his lower leg and around the heel and then is secured to the leg with coflex (a tape type material that sticks to itself). The tape still comes in fun colors so Logan still got to pick his color as he had been promised on the way to the doctor and was super happy to find a "fun green" that he wanted on now (no looking at the leg doctor....just put on the green....if Logan had his way!)
So I tried to get a good picture of the new splint, but Logan couldn't really be bothered with such things so here are a couple of the best that I got:
If you can't tell from this smile we love playing with trains on the floor!
So the current plan is to keep this splint on for about 3 weeks, then we'll return to the orthopedist for another x-ray to see how things are progressing. The doctor says young children heal much faster than adults so he is hopeful that Logan will be close to being down with splint by the next time we see him....definitely not needing the 8 weeks we originally thought, so that makes us really happy!!!
Though Logan is still carried most places, he is becoming quite the good little, FAST crawler again. Every once in a while he'll put some weight on the leg, which the doctor also said he would start to do as it feels better, so that's good news as well.
We keep Logan busy with trains, movies, the thousand library books we checked out, and any toy/game we can come up with in the house. Not quite the fun outside at the end of the summer we had thought we would be having as a family in August, but Logan is coping really well.
Overall, we are super blessed with how well Logan is doing and are extremely excited that the recovering will be much shorter than anticipated. :)
