I have a 5 year old?!
That's right, Clark turned 5 today.
Five years ago Clark came speeding into the world and hasn't slowed down since.
He is always in full go mode and always on the move. Clark can be super stubborn or super sweet or maybe both in the same minute! He is starting to learn to read and loves school. He can write all of his letters and loves to practice writing words. Clark's new love is building with Lego's. He also still likes cars and loves to read books as well. In fact he currently wants to be a library worker when he grows up. He constantly keeps us on our toes! We love him and are so thankful he is in this family.
Though it seems like we have been celebrating his birthday for like a month, we still wanted to make sure that today was a special day as well. He choose to take donuts to school for treats, so we hit the local donut shop on the way to school where he choose sprinkle covered donuts for everyone.
Once school was over, we ate some lunch and then Clark treated himself to a birthday nap (really a better present for Mom, but I'll take a little extra quiet time any day! )
For dinner, the birthday boy requested Hot dog sandwiches (which are just hot dogs in buns) and macaroni and cheese, so that is what we had. Then it was more donuts (but everyone favorite kind this time) for dessert with a little candle blowing opportunity as well.
Then it was on to presents
Logan even helped a little.
After we played a few game of Cars Bingo..one of the games Clark got...it was on to the final birthday surprise.
The Thomas Pinata! (or "HIata" as Clark calls it).
Clark was kind of upset that he didn't get to do the pinata at the combined birthday party, so since the pinata was still in perfect condition after doing the pull string opening with Logan's friends, Brian and I thought we would just close up the bottom and fill it up with candy again...then let the boys go at it in true pinata style.
The boys were definitely excited
and went back and forth taking a few turns hitting it before switching
Mom and Dad even got in a few hits each (though there are no pictures of those)
but finally after lots of hitting, a little pulling and jumping (it turns out it was a really well made pinata), it finally opened and the candy was dumped.
Then the boys got to go at it in filling their bags.
Cute thing was they each picked out one of each candy...maybe a couple of their favorites and then told me they were done and Mom and Dad could have the rest. Super cute....trained those boys well! :)
We sure are happy to have these two little munchkins in our family. They make us laugh daily.
And we all had a great day celebrating Clark's birthday...again! :)
Happy Birthday Clark!

That is great you got more use out of the pinata. What thoughtful little boys to offer you and Brian the rest of the candy. Wow!
Happy Birthday Clark boy! I can't believe he is 5!
