This day started out with spending the morning exploring Granville Island in Vancouver.
Granville Island is the touristy place to go with the fun shops, interesting food and funny street entertainers.
When we first arrive, we were welcomed by some fly people:
We spent time exploring the fun "farmers market" full of fresh produce as well as fun things to eat, like these cute cookies made special for the Olympics:
We also visited many fun little shops and a great kids toy "museum" which was really just a lot of neat toy stores making up one building....even without kids though, us four adults managed to spend quite a while in the museum looking at all the fun things to buy our cute boys.
Then we saw beautiful views on the water
and fed the birds leftover parts of our baguette
and I got caught taking pictures of my cute husband
then we saw some awesome totem poles that were in the process of being made.
It was really neat to see the different stages a totem pole goes through as it is being carved.
After more shopping, site seeing, and watching an entertaining act by a unicylce rider, we headed towards Olympic Village (were the athletes stay). Unlike in Salt Lake; however, Vancouver's village was completely blocked off to any normal people and there was no activities anywhere near where the athletes stayed....but it was a gorgeous day, so we didn't mind the walk.
For dinner this night we tried an all you can eat Korean BBQ restaurant that was quite fun. You order anything and everything that you want to try off this menu and then they bring out the raw marinated meat so you can cook it yourself on the grill in the center of your table.
Here is a better view of table with Grandpa working on cooking up some chicken or pork or something.
It was a fun dinner and most of us tried something new we had never tried before which was fun (I gave in and tried sushi...or at least a California roll...for the first time. It was ok, but not my favorite thing that night).
Next it was off to another:
This one was much fuller then the previous one we attended
This time, via the feeds from Whistler, we saw Bill DeMong receive the Gold and Johnny Spillane receive the Silver for the 10Km Cross Country skiing event (super fun to hear the US National Anthem in person again);
the medals for Women's Cross Country 4x5 relay (Germany, Norway, Finland)
and the US pairs Bobsled team receive silver
Then in person we saw the medals received for Women's Ski Jumping
with Australia winning gold and China taking silver and bronze;
the medals for women's short track relay:
China won gold, Canada won silver and the USA won bronze
and the flags for those medals as they were being raised.
Next was time for the concert. I already showed you plenty of laser shots last time, but here is the maple leaf lit up that we managed to get a shot of this time.
It lights up right before the curtain fell and the concert started.
Tonight was Burton Cummings.
I had never heard of him before that night, though I think everyone else knew at least a few of his songs and I did know most of the songs he preformed that other artists had written. It was a fun night and he had a fun show that was much more mellow then the previous concert and had more variety in the his songs as well.
It was another busy but fun day at the Olympics.
