Wildlife Safari

Friday was a beautiful day, so we took the chance to head over and check out our little town's claim to fame, wildlife safari.

Wildlife Safari is basically an outdoor zoo that you drive through...or as they claim "your caged while the animals run free".

We decided to buy season passes since we are so close and figure we'll visit at least a few times during the next year, so we picked up our map and then turned the corner to start our drive tour and this is what we saw:

 He seem to ask us if we were sure we wanted to come in, but we had 2 excited boys in the back who encouraged the ostrich to move so we could go see the other animals.

We watched this BIG buffalo cross right in front of our car



The elk were huge and really beautiful.

We stopped to stare at the huge camels, which Clark hopes we'll go back and ride one day,

And while we were busy watching the camels, this snuck up to my window:

Clark politely tapped my shoulder and said "Mommy, something is at your window." He told me twice before Brian and I stopped watching the camels and turned around to see that a Rhea had come to visit and wanted some attention.

I am just glad my window was closed at the moment or I am sure my hair would have been his lunch. Instead he busied himself pecking at the window trying to come in to visit. He might have come home with us if we would have let him, but we left him there and went on to see the deer.

During our drive we also saw Lions, Tigers, Cheetahs, Bear, Elephants, Yak, Llama, and Sheep. We know we missed the Rhino, Hippos, and a few other things, so we'll definitely be going back to see what we find on another drive one day.

It took about 1 and 1/2 hours to drive through the park, so after the drive thru, we ate a little picnic, then headed into the village to check out the smaller animals and let the boys run and explore.

We had to get in some goat feeding while we were here.

The boys were so careful to make sure that each goat got a chance to eat at least once which was super cute.

Daddy made friends with the Llama that was in the petting zoo.

And the Llama instantly loved Dad petting/scratching him

And though we were lucky enough not to have the Llama spit on us, he did give Logan a kiss which Logan thought was funny.

We rode a little train around the village which was fun, but I have no pictures to share...maybe next time.

After the train we found the ducks

Which the boys insisted needed to be fed as well,

so we fed the ducks...and some fish (in case you can't tell in the picture, those fish are HUGE. They definitely get there fair share of duck food.)

Logan chased this poor little duck around for quite a while trying to pet him. The duck wanted nothing to do with Logan though.

We had a great time and will definitely be back.

It's so fun to see the animals so close. The only down side is I am not sure Dad is going to let us go to another normal zoo after this. He thinks it will be too boring after the safari, but we'll see.
