Telling the boys

The end of January we told the boys our secret Brian and I had been keeping for a few months. We decided to do something fun, so we made a little scavenger hunt for them where they took turns following clues to find letters that spelled out a word to describe our secret.

This is the board before we started with all the clues and instruction cards on it.

The boys were pretty excited to start, so here they are taking down the first card with instructions.

I have a cute video of them figuring it out the clues, but it won't upload, so you'll just have to settle for a picture of their cute smiles after they learned we were expecting a new baby:

The boys definitely loved this little game we sent them on. They wouldn't let me clean up the clues for days as they kept putting the letters back and replaying the game multiple times. It was super cute to watch them love it so much and get excited each time they finished and Clark sounded out the word again even though they already knew the answer.

Since they loved the clues and hunt so much, when Valentine's Day rolled around and we know what we were having we couldn't just tell the boys, so we made a treasure hunt with tons of clues to follow and puzzle pieces at the end that once put together would tell them what their new sibling would be.

(Most of the events of that night were taken in little video forms, but since blogger is being dumb and won't upload video right now....pictures is what you get until I feel like fixing it later...maybe.)

Once they found the last clue with an envelope of puzzle pieces, they set to work of figuring out the puzzle.

 They did a great job working together

 We made the puzzle a little tricky since Clark had been bragging all day that as soon as he saw a "B" he would know it was a brother or an "S" that it would be a sister, we used "Girl" instead

 And put the exciting word behind "It's a Baby"

Therefore before we could figure it out, we needed to give Clark a lesson in how to see the big letters behind the words he could see, then he could figure it out.

They were definitely really excited along with their parents and we all had a great time in our little game playing to tell the boys our secret.
