Chickens

On Memorial Day we had a really fun young family picnic with about 12 other families with young kids.

I took no pictures at the actual picnic, but I didn't manage a few of the boys helping to put chickens away.

Since we were the first family at the friends house with the huge yard we were using for the picnic, the boys got to help get all the chickens back in their coop (since there was about 35 kids at the picnic, our friends didn't want their chickens to be chased to death! :))

The boys helped get some food scraps and then were great at make a path of food straight into the coop and then helped feed them.

 Logan was super proud when all the chickens were secured.

Then, speaking of chickens, this last Saturday, our EQ group got together and killed chickens and then all the families joined the Dad's at the park later where the Dad's BBQ up the fresh chicken for lunch.

I have absolutely no pictures to document said event, but there were about 12 guys there in the morning and Brian said they all had a good time and learned a lot about killing, skinning, and cleaning chickens.

Then all the families enjoyed a good lunch (and no one has been sick so we agree the husbands all did a good job of cooking the chicken!).

Though Brian thought it was a great activity, he thinks once is enough for now, so don't expect this house to start raising and killing our own chickens any time soon. We leave that talent to our amazing friends and just learn from their knowledge whenever possible. :)
