Art night at school

So recently Clark's school had an Art Gala night and since the school is always nice enough to include preschoolers in everything, we all attended.

It was a fun night full of art, treats and musical performances.

Basically, this is a fund raiser for the school as well as the kids spring concerts. Each classroom does 3-4 art projects that the teacher keeps and then displays in the hallways of the school sorted by classroom and then child. Anyway, there are price tags on each piece of art with the suggest price (anyway from 25 cents to a dollar) but then the parents or grandparent or whoever is supposed to barter with their artist student to decide on the price the artist wants and the parent will pay to take the art piece home....kind of a cool fundraiser for the school I thought.

Anyway, it was the first time Brian has actually been to the school with Clark, Clark proudly showed off his classroom and other favorite things to Dad.

Then it was singing time:

 And Clark actually got up there and did it!!!!! (If you know Clark you know that was a big deal...there was no way he even came close at the Christmas concert and that was in a small room with just morning preschool and kindergarten parents...no a huge room with tons of parents! So I was proud he got up there to begin with)

The preschoolers sang with the first graders...so there are lots of big kids and then the 8 small preschoolers up front in the middle, but they did great.

 I don't remember all the songs they sang, but You are my Sunshine, Zippity Do Da, and Riddley Dink-a-Dink were all in there the mix of 6 songs they did. 

 Basically they were just cute and it was fun to watch all of their funny faces and hand motions.

 And the night wasn't complete without buying some artwork before we left. Clark had 3 art pieces up on the wall for purchase....the suggested prices added up to a dollar for all 3, but the artist informed us that a dollar per piece was more fair, so not being able to resist the cute proud kid (plus at least the money was going to a good school cause) Logan bought one for a dollar and Mom and Dad bought the other two for two dollars.

Good things we have an amazing artist in our family.....hopefully the prices don't rise each year though?!

and my favorite.....a self portrait (according to his teacher the wavy line was the first thing Clark worked on when they did it and he was very careful to get it just as he wanted it before moving on to the eyes, nose, etc so when the teacher asked him what the wavy line was and why he wasn't working on a picture of him....Clark looked at her and informed her that it was his spiky hair and that he had to get that right before he drew his face!!! So silly, but super cute!)
