Donkey Basketball

Brian's school had a night of Donkey basketball with three games to determine the champion team for the night. Since Brian was playing for the teachers, we of course needed to go over and watch it and thought it would be fun to take our friends, Issac, Eli, and Gabe with us.

Half of Brian's students we saw wondered if all 6 kids were his, but as the single parent, it was actually really nice having 3 older boys with me to help with my three and I think they had fun too.

So what is donkey basketball? The players actually ride on the back of donkey's while playing basketball, so half the fun is watching the rider try to get the donkey to go where they want them to go....or come with them when they get off to grab a dropped ball (which is allowed as long as your donkey is with you).

The first game was students vs students. Then a fun game of 2 community teams, then the winning student team against the teachers for the third game.

Of course, when a donkey has to go....he has to go, so I think all 5 of the boys favorite was watching the pooper scoopers! :)

Brian ended up with a super sloooowww donkey, but I think he still had fun and we had a great time watching the crazy games. The teachers ended up winning, so the students will be out for revenge next year!

Logan turns 6

Logan has been waiting all year for it to be his birthday so he could take treats to school and be the star of the day...then he realized his birthday was on a Saturday...but he was happy once again when he realized we could take treats and celebrate on Friday with his class!

He made a simpler request on vanilla cupcakes with green frosting and sprinkles for his class.

Saturday, we celebrated as a family. Clark had basketball games that morning in Kelso, so we went to Denny's at Logan's request for Birthday brunch.

Later that night we ate chickens and fries for dinner of course and opened presents.

 

 

His birthday cake request was a little trickier with rainbow layers, blue frosting and Thomas on top...at least he was ok using actual trains instead of wanting it drawn on his cake!

Then our friends the Moon's came over to celebrate and eat cake with us!

So glad Logan is in our family. He is such a tender heart and we love all the cuddle and hugs he gives us daily!

He is doing so well in all day Kindergarten and is an amazing reader!

Snow Daysssss

So we had two different huge snow storms at the end of the year that closed school for multiple days in December (much to the kids delight and the mother's dislike....doesn't the weather know I have things to do WITHOUT kids around in December?!).

It was Aubrie's first real outing in the snow, so we bundled her up good

and took her out for a walk in the white, cold stuff. At first she was not a fan...

but to started to grow on her a little....

maybe...

ok, we're good.

Especially if Dad holds her hand when expected to walk!

And just to prove I was there too..

The boys enjoyed playing in the snow way more than Aubrie!

Lots of tracks, snow angels, snowmen, and snowballs were made.

They enjoyed throwing snow balls at Mom and Aubrie who were watching from the windows.

 

And I loved the tiny snowman they built on the mailbox!

But I think their favorite part was seeing how much they could get Aubrie to laugh when they hit the window with snow where she was watching from.

The craziest part was how much snow we were use and mess up during the day, then another storm would come through at night dumping more snow to make everything look all new and untouched again.

Definitely think we got our quota of snow this year and it should last us a couple of years I would guess, but it sure was fun!
